Ep.224 – Fandom IP, Leawood Films, and Film Festivals

Sorry for our unexpected hiatus, sometimes life gets in the way. But we are back this week and there is plenty of news to talk about!

First! Fandom IP. Zach Cregger's Resident Evil film releases this week, and he is not a fan of the RE fans. Is it worth it for an up and coming filmmaker to take on an IP these days?
Secondly, AMC has announced they are opening up Leawood Films, a new independent movie distribution label? What does this mean? What movies can we expect? Is it weird that a theater chain is acquiring movies?
And finally, we are deep in Film Festival season, so Josh and Willis throught it might be nice to discuss the role of the film festival in the modern industry. Who are they for? What films are they for? How have they changed? Lots to think about with this one.
